Bright days

By Victoria Polmatier | 7:49 AM PST, Wed March 09, 2016

Bright days
Rainy days
But not gray days

I love bright, sunny days
when the sun shines
and the air is heavy with expectation
of the growth all around us
and I can feel life unfurling
and feel the possibilities.

I love rainy days
when the sun is hidden
behind sodden clouds
when the world is being washed clean
the plants are getting a drink
and the birds flit here and there
sometimes playing,
sometimes hiding out
under an overhanging branch.

Curly Willow

By Victoria Polmatier | 7:49 AM PST, Thu March 03, 2016
Curly willow tree

It rained last night.
The ground is muddy and the grass squishes in places
but he world has been washed clean once again.
Thousands of diamonds hang from the Willow tree
reflecting the morning sunlight.

Spring in my Heart

By Victoria Polmatier | 7:49 AM PST, Wed February 24, 2016

Spring Willow
Spring sprouts in my heart
New life unfurling inside
Green bits showing now

Sense of direction
Aliveness brings clarity
Life moves forth today

Gardening's Worth

By Victoria Polmatier | 1:42 PM PST, Thu February 18, 2016

I sit on the edge of a garden bed
after a long day of laboring.
The sun and clouds are still overhead
and the wind rages around me.

The giant firs wave back and forth
seeming to sigh so loudly.
And chimes set around the yard
deliver their song so proudly.

The wind quietly caresses my cheeks
and I deeply breath in its solace.
In spite of the constant motion of nature
the world around me seems flawless.

Life unfurling

By Victoria Polmatier | 9:11 AM PST, Thu February 18, 2010

I can feel the energy of spring pushing through the surface of my mind. Like the first leaves unfurling from the dormant plant, my being seems to be awakening. It's been a long winter, lasting several seasons for me but I feel this excitement about life that hasn't been there for a long time.

Connect with nature

By Victoria Polmatier | 9:11 AM PST, Tue January 20, 2009

We've all heard the expression to "stop and smell the roses". It really only takes a moment to look around us and breathe in the beauty of nature. It may be a flower, the snow, cloud formations and crystal blue of the sky. Take a moment out of each day to appreciate the gift of this great planet we live on.

It is so easy to get focused on where we are going, what's next. But that moment of taking in nature, reconnects us to the present moment and the ability to remember our connectedness.

Welcome

I've been writing blogs on the internet since 2007. Like my life, my words have wandered from Wisdom or Life Lessons and Wellness, to Gardening and Aquaponics. After my son’s death by suicide in 2016, Poetry became a big piece of my world as I tried to make sense of the tragedy of his death.

In truth, his death took me into my own journey with darkness. I've shared a bit during the last ten years but nothing in comparison to what I've written. Only recently have I started to climb back into life and the desire to share my writing.

These days, my writing is varied and inspired by the moment. I participate in two writing group, one where we write to prompts from a book by Judy Reeves called A Writer’s Book of Days: A Spirited Companion and the other where we journey and then write about our experience or about the wisdom gained. Much of this writing is buried in journals in my office. As I move forward, Some of that will be found under Stories, Magic and the Mystical.

How do you read this jumble of topics? You can read what’s latest, type a word into Search and see what comes up, or select a Topic from the Blog Content below. However you read, I hope you enjoy.

Blessings, Victoria
