Foggy Morning

By Victoria Polmatier | 10:26 AM PST, Thu February 21, 2019

The fog holds steady in the trees
above, a bright blue sky
the sun grows ever brighter
but still
the fog holds steady in the trees.

Who is the Real You?

By Victoria Polmatier | 11:05 AM PST, Fri January 11, 2019
Image of trees

The wild one
the untamed one
the one who is most at home in nature
the one who loves to play in the soil
tending sweet plants
the one who runs to a tree
when life becomes too much
She's really good at hiding
staying tucked just around the corner
You can't be changed
if they can't see you
When you least expect it
she rises up and speaks her truth
swings her tail in the middle
of your neat and tidy life
shoving aside the pretense
opening the door for fresh air
You can't tame her
no matter how hard you try

The Dark Season

By Victoria Polmatier | 9:55 AM PST, Wed November 21, 2018
Dark fall scene

She stood
looking out over the landscape
the skies were a dull gray
She longed
for the bright days of summer
for the blooming of the flowers
and the hum of the bees
Instead the dark season
lay upon the land
the spent flowers hung as
little lumps at the end of the stems
the leaves no longer clung to the trees
instead, they blew into the low places
cloaking the earth for the times ahead
As she stood looking out
her heart felt heavy
the winter rains and wind
would soon drive her indoors

Path to My Wild Heart

By Victoria Polmatier | 10:07 AM PST, Fri November 09, 2018
Image of a forest path

To find me, take the path along the creek on the south side of the road you travel. You'll have to seek out the path. It goes through a patch of brambles of fear and doubt and self-hatred. Sometimes, the path seems completely hidden by brambles.

Winter's Call

By Victoria Polmatier | 10:41 AM PST, Mon December 04, 2017
Hawk in Winter

Surrender
to the silence
the urge to rest
quiet the mind
release the tension
simply be
allow the cool waters
to flush you clean
warm your bones
by the fire
let the winter winds
blow away your struggles
sink your mind
deep into the earth
breathe into it
sending tendrils
of rootedness
deep, deep, deep
into Mother Earth
ground into this moment
rest now beloved one
allow the inner workings
of your mind to settle
it's winter
time to rest
let your self lie fallow
until the spring sun

Rain Welcomes the Fall

By Victoria Polmatier | 5:53 AM PDT, Tue September 26, 2017

a rainstorm
quenches the thirst
of the parched land
the change in the air
is palpable
a relaxing
sigh of relief
all seems quieter
cool misty mornings
afternoons warmed
by the sun
calling for one
to bask in the caress
rather than hide
crisp, chilly evenings
yesterday
the equinox
and its official
fall is here

Spring waiting

By Victoria Polmatier | 9:54 AM PDT, Tue April 25, 2017

Spring apple blossomsWrite.
Whatever comes to mind -
birds singing
rain falling
puddles getting ever deeper
springtime
fresh green leaves
new clothing for trees
blossoms bursting forth
spring is in the air
rain, rain, rain
so much rain
It's all part of the
experience right now.
My body aches
from yesterday's projects.
My mind is a blur,
no clarity to be found.
My eyes

Springtime Gardening

Planting of a garden

Spring time
Gardening time
Lots and lots of labor
Labor that leaves me feeling
exhausted and satisfied.

Spring

By Victoria Polmatier | 12:00 AM PST, Fri March 10, 2017

A spring from the ground in the springMovement
waking and stretching
as if from a long nap
spring is here
the air feels different
the birds
oh my goodness, the birds
singing their sweet songs
pulling forth life
from within my being
hello spring
Going for a walk
looking for a spring pic
came upon a spring
bubbling up from the Earth
felt right.
Happy spring,
Victoria

Spring's Urging

By Victoria Polmatier | 7:49 AM PST, Mon January 23, 2017
Early spring growth

I'm trying to move,
sadness continues to be
my constant companion.
My mind is a constant swirl.
I can feel the stirring of spring.
I can feel the pressure
of tasks long left undone.
I no longer want to just curl up
in front of the fire,
or stay in my cave
and ignore the rest of the world.
But I also don't seem to have
any forward moving energy.
So, I'm just letting it be,
finding one thing
that calls me in the moment.
Baby steps, I believe they call it,
steps into the now.
It seems crazy

Welcome

I've been writing blogs on the internet since 2007. Like my life, my words have wandered from Wisdom or Life Lessons and Wellness, to Gardening and Aquaponics. After my son’s death by suicide in 2016, Poetry became a big piece of my world as I tried to make sense of the tragedy of his death.

In truth, his death took me into my own journey with darkness. I've shared a bit during the last ten years but nothing in comparison to what I've written. Only recently have I started to climb back into life and the desire to share my writing.

These days, my writing is varied and inspired by the moment. I participate in two writing group, one where we write to prompts from a book by Judy Reeves called A Writer’s Book of Days: A Spirited Companion and the other where we journey and then write about our experience or about the wisdom gained. Much of this writing is buried in journals in my office. As I move forward, Some of that will be found under Stories, Magic and the Mystical.

How do you read this jumble of topics? You can read what’s latest, type a word into Search and see what comes up, or select a Topic from the Blog Content below. However you read, I hope you enjoy.

Blessings, Victoria
