A poem on the current state of the Earth...
The pain of seeing a failing earth
humankind in a constant march to destruction
It hurts my heart, so much anger, and division,
so much ripping apart, taking and never giving
I feel this sense of sitting at the edge
a sad song plays as the world goes up in ashes
I don’t believe the earth will go
We will go
We will perish, be the ones who become extinct
The earth will heal
It may take millennia but it will rise
beautiful and strong once again
But we humans, we are at the edge
jumping in great numbers over the ledge
giving up, giving in, letting it all happen
In these moments, I don’t see a resurrection
only the end
And then…
Habitat for Humanity steps in to care for a neighbor
A team of researchers at Purdue University develop a process to turn plastic into oil (1)
Some quiet, mild-mannered folk work quietly in the background
infiltrating, connecting, learning, gathering information
to slow the spread of hatred
The truth will win out — tolerance becomes the order of the day (2)
The wolves of Chernobyl slowly heal and begin to spread
Nature, Mother Earth, Gaia can recover
She holds the seeds to our redemption (3)
Poets and artists and musicians speak to our humanity
calling forth the greater story
the one that just.might.save.us.
Possibility
we must cling to the possibilities
fight with every tool we possess
That is the only answer
